Gas Brooders in Kenya – Ampia, Square & Damly Brooders

Soma ukurasa huu kwa Kiswahili →

Mkulima Jovial supplies gas brooders for broiler, layer and kienyeji chicks across Kenya. A gas brooder gives steady, even heat during the first weeks, when chicks cannot keep themselves warm – which means fewer losses and more even growth than with charcoal or bulbs.

Gas brooders and accessories

Which gas brooder do you need?

• Ampia gas brooder – broods up to 500 chicks. Ideal for small and medium batches.
• Square gas brooder – broods up to 1,200 chicks. For commercial broiler and layer batches. KSh 12,500 for the brooder only.
• Square gas brooder complete set – KSh 15,000 – brooder, 7 m gas pipe, thermo-hygrometer, low-pressure regulator and pipe clips, ready to connect to your LPG cylinder.

For batches bigger than one brooder’s capacity, use more than one brooder and split the chicks into rings so every chick stays close to the heat. Our poultry equipment calculator works out how many you need.

Using a gas brooder safely

• Use a regulator that matches the brooder and check the pipe and joints for leaks with soapy water before every batch.
• Hang the brooder at the height in its instructions and adjust it by watching the chicks: crowding under the heat means they are cold; chicks pressed against the ring means they are too hot.
• Keep the house ventilated – a gas brooder uses oxygen and gives off fumes.
• Use a brooder thermometer at chick level: about 32–35 °C in week one, dropping roughly 3 °C each week.
